Electronic devices and circuits, by sanjeev gupta pdf How does a battery charge? Why can't a battery be recharged? What are circuits made of? These questions, and many more, are answered in this practical guide to electronic devices. Electronics have been around for a long time, but they have only recently become the norm. This book provides thorough information about the most common types of electronics used today, as well as basic circuit diagrams. Written in a clear and straightforward manner, this book is perfect for those with little or no knowledge of electronics. The first chapter defines the study of electronics, as well as the various types of electronics that exists today. The second chapter talks about the electrical units used throughout the book. It also provides information on different circuit diagrams. The third chapter talks about all things concerning batteries and storage devices including alkaline batteries, automotive batteries, lead-acid batteries and nickel–cadmium batteries. The fourth chapter explains how to use resistors correctly in a circuit. The fifth chapter focuses on capacitors and their uses in a circuit with real-life scenarios. The sixth chapter describes inductors and their uses in various circuits. The seventh chapter is all about diodes, including the history of the diode, how it works and its applications. The eighth chapter talks about integrated circuits, analog switches, logic gates and shift registers. The ninth chapter explains how to use transistors in a circuit with topics ranging from the different types of transistors to transistor amplifiers. The tenth chapter shows ways in which microprocessors can be used in a circuit along with programming languages for microprocessors. The eleventh chapter touches upon different types of timers including phase-counting timers, edge-triggered timers, pulse clocks, delay counters and time accumulators. The twelfth chapter talks about logic integrated circuits and its applications. The thirteenth chapter covers operational amplifiers. The fourteenth chapter provides a crash course in digital logic. The fifteenth chapter talks about different types of oscillators used in circuits today. The sixteenth and final chapter gives a brief history of electronics, with a look at where electronics is going in the future. SUMMARY: The entire book was very interesting and provided me with all the knowledge I will need to build my own circuit board from scratch. Each topic discussed gave enough information to understand what was being said, but not too much that it would be confusing or go into unnecessary detail that would not be needed for simple electronic projects. The book also showed me that I could learn much more about electronics than the project I was working on. Overall, this textbook was very informative and clearly an excellent source of information for those looking to study electronics as a hobby.
